Portland and Seattle

We visited Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington over the next couple days.

In Portland, we forgot to take pictures for most of our visit. We actually went into the largest book store in the US but forgot to take a single picture! Instead we visited one of Portland's many parks where there is a massive rose garden.

This park had over 550 different varieties of roses!

This extremely modern looking building is home to the "Experience the Music Project" in Seattle, a museum dedicated to modern music. It featured exhibits on Seattle's influential grunge music scene as well as a whole room dedicated to Jimi Hendrix.

The very first Starbucks EVER in Pikes Place Market.

My friend Merrill who toured us around Seattle all day.
At the end of our long day, Sarah and I took a Sunset Cruise in Puget Sound. Unfortunately it was pretty much cloudy the entire time, but we still loved it.
What started as a nice leisurely sail quickly turned intense as we joined up with this sailing race that was taking place!
The captain told us to prepare for "the sailboat tippy thing"...we weren't prepared. We barely stayed on.
Calmer waters once we'd reached a viewing point for the Sunset. The sky was too cloudy to see anything at all until at the very last second this pink light came out from behind some mountains. It only lasted for about a minute.

A final view of Seattle at night.

The redwood trees are so amazing and I love the photo of the single rose! Dad laughed when he read what you wrote about "that tippy thing" that sailboats do, and I noticed that neither of you were wearing life jackets. Haha!
