We arrived in Austin, TX at around 8:00pm, just in time to watch millions of bats fly out from underneath a bridge on Congress St! At one time the City of Austin tried to eradicate the bat populations that lived underneath the bridge, but soon realized that they eat about 3,000 pounds of insects a night and are completely harmless to humans. Hundreds of people show up on the bridge and on a park below it to watch the bats come out every night!
Bat Conservation International banner on the bridge.

The bats starting to take over the sky...

They group up and swarm like bees!

The bats just starting to come out...
Lots of bats!
And of course, we had to eat at another BBQ!

Now the less exciting photos....
We also stopped at the State House. It's 7 ft taller than the Federal Capital building in DC!

A view of the dome from the inside.
